Drug peddler from Delhi among 3 held with heroin

Accused was earlier arrested in Theog with 55 grams of heroin

Three persons, including an interstate drug peddler from Delhi and a woman, have been arrested with 30.6 grams of heroin from Kotkhai tehsil, the police said here on Saturday.

The accused were identified as Kamal Acharya (46), a resident of Uttam Nagar in Delhi; Ranjan Sharma (35) of Dalsar village in Kotkhai; and Suman Shahi (35) of Ward Number 3 in Kotkhai.

According to the police, they received secret information that one woman, who resides in a rented room in Kotkhai, is involved in the illicit drug trade. Acting on the tip-off, a team from the Kotkhai police station raided the said room, where the three accused were already present. While searching the room, the police recovered the contraband from their possession and then arrested the three accused.

Theog Deputy Superintendent of Police Siddharth Sharma said a case under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act was registered against the accused at the Kotkhai police station.

The DSP revealed that a known drug peddler, Kamal Acharya, was earlier arrested in Theog with 55 grams of heroin. He further said that Ranjan was also involved in drug trade and two cases under the NDPS Act have already been registered against him.
