Chandigarh, July 25

A drug peddler has been nabbed by the UT police while carrying 1.36 kg of opium.

Dev Dutt, 29, a native of Uttar Pradesh (UP), was nabbed by a team of the Sector 31 police station from Ram Darbar, Phase 2. Opium was recovered from the bag he was carrying.

Subsequently, a case under the NDPS Act was registered at the Sector 31 police station.

During interrogation, the suspect revealed that he used to procure opium from Budaun district of UP at Rs 80,000 per kg and sold it for Rs 1 lakh per kg.

The police said they were investigating as to whom was opium meant to be delivered.
