Drug haul in Fatehabad ahead of polls
In a significant pre-election operation, the Fatehabad police have seized 8 quintals of poppy husk from an abandoned truck in Dhani Gopal village, Bhuna, causing a stir among local residents.
The discovery came just days before the Assembly elections, raising concerns about potential illegal activities linked to the polls. Villagers noticed that the truck, labelled “Postal Parcel” on the back, had been parked on the village outskirts for several days.
Initially, locals assumed it belonged to someone in the area but when the truck remained stationary for three-four days, the police were informed.
Late at night, police teams, led by SP Astha Modi and DSP Jagdish Kajla, arrived at the spot. Upon inspection, under the supervision of Duty Magistrates, the police discovered 40 plastic bags containing around 8 quintals of poppy husk. The police seized the truck and began investigations.
DSP Jagdish Kajla confirmed the discovery of the drugs and stated that the police were actively investigating the truck’s origins and how it ended up in the village.
