Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, known for his fiery rhetoric, took on the issue of drug menace during a rally in Shahabad today, likening drug dealers to the demon Mahishasura. He urged voters not to allow these ‘demons’ to flourish again in Haryana.

While campaigning for BJP candidate Subhash Kalsana in Shahabad, Adityanath drew a comparison between the victory of good over evil in Hindu mythology and the fight against the drug trade. “The drug dealers who want to destroy the country and kill the youth are demons like Mahishasura. The double-engine government is like Goddess Bhagwati for these Mahishasuras,” he said, stressing the need to stop these mafias from regaining power.

Highlighting the achievements of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, he credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the development of Ayodhya and the Ram Temple. “The long wait of 500 years was ended by the BJP government under Prime Minister Modi. The mafias and gangsters active in Uttar Pradesh are either in jail or have left for their final journeys,” he remarked.

He also praised the progress Haryana has seen under the BJP’s decade-long rule, citing improvements in road networks, railway projects, and job creation based on merit. He contrasted this progress with the destruction caused by mafias involved in the drug trade, land grabbing, cattle smuggling, and illegal mining. “These criminals involved in organised crime are the real obstacles in society’s development, job generation, and women’s safety,” he said, urging voters to prevent their return to power. Yogi also highlighted Haryana’s proud tradition in sports, noting that the state’s athletes consistently bring home international medals. “Haryana is a land of sportspersons. I urge you to maintain this record and vote for the BJP to ensure a strong and developed Haryana.”

Accusing opposition parties of spreading misinformation, the UP CM recalled how, despite rumours spread by the Congress and the AAP during the Lok Sabha elections, the people of Kurukshetra stood by Prime Minister Modi and elected Naveen Jindal. He urged voters to continue their support by electing Subhash Kalsana, who understands the dangers of drugs to society, and to help the BJP end the drug menace in Haryana.
