The special investigation unit (SIU) of the Solan police arrested a Nigerian national, who was declared a proclaimed offender in a drug peddling case, from Delhi last evening.

Solan SP Gaurav Singh said on September 20, 2019, the SIU of the district police had arrested Basudhir (21), a resident of Krishnanagar, in Delhi, with 82.6-gm heroin.

During the investigation, Basudhir had stated that he had bought heroin from Ifenanyi Frank, a Nigerian national, from Dwarka in Delhi. The SIU had arrested Frank from Uttam Nagar and had recovered 14.3-gm heroin from his possession.

After completing the investigation in the case, a charge-sheet was filed against both accused and they were presented in the court.

The Nigerian national was later released on a bail bond from the High Court, but he failed to appear before the court despite being summoned multiple times following which the court declared him a proclaimed offender.

The local police obtained a production warrant from the court concerned for his arrest and arrested him from Tihar Jail last evening.
