The Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, Gurugram (MCG), Ashok Garg has asked the officials concerned of the civic body to impose fines and take legal action against those draining cattle dung in sewer lines. He also said legal action must also be taken against those throwing septic tank waste in the open.

Presiding over the Samadhan Shivir on Monday, Garg came across several complaints stating that some dairy owners were draining cattle dung in the sewerage, clogging the lines, resulting in sewage overflow.

He told the officials concerned to launch a special campaign to identify the dairy owners involved in such activities and ensure that legal action was taken against them as per the MCG’s rules. He said a zero tolerance policy would be adopted against those making the city dirty.

A complainant, who came from Noorpur Jharssa village, said in their area, some people disposed of cattle dung in the sewer lines, which was leading to blockage in the lines.

While hearing another complaint, the Commissioner told the officials that strict monitoring should be done against those who discharged the septic tank waste in the open, green belts, vacant plots, and into drains and sewer lines, etc. If any person did this, then his/her vehicle should be seized and an FIR should be lodged against the vehicle owner and driver at the police station concerned, he said.
