In the wake of heavy rainfall lashing Himachal Pradesh some elevation in Ghaggar’s water level was observed yesterday after which the Mohali administration directed the officials of the Drainage Department to monitor the the Bhankarpur guage of the river.

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said, “Those residing on the banks of Ghaggar need not panic as the administration is monitoring the situation continuously and now the water level that was measured at 5 feet yesterday has receded to normal.”

As per reports, the increased flow did not cause any damage in the area. Sub Divisional Magistrate Himanshu Gupta and officials of the Drainage Department have also been asked to keep vigil in the flood-prone areas of Ghaggar, falling in the Derabassi Sub-Division.
