Dr SK Singhal takes charge as director of Rohtak PGIMS
Dr SK Singhal assumed the charge of the Director of the PGIMS in Rohtak on Saturday. The post had fallen vacant after the previous incumbent, Dr SS Lohchab, tendered his resignation.
“My topmost commitment is to make the healthcare services better and take the institute to new heights. We will work as a team and get the PGIMS included in the list of the top 10 medical institutes of the country,” said Dr Singhal, who has been given the officiating charge of Director.
Sources said the process for the appointment of a regular director was also under way, with several applicants from within the PGIMS as well as outside the institute eyeing the coveted post. Dr Singhal, who is also among the applicants for the post of regular director, maintained that he would try to provide a good working environment to the doctors and employees so that they can give their best.
“The PGIMS, Rohtak, is the first and largest medical college of Haryana. My first priority will be to ensure that the benefits of the government’s welfare schemes reach everyone and patients do not face any problems at the hospital,” he said, adding that his doors would always be open for doctors, employees, students and residents.
Dr Singhal has held various positions at the PGIMS and Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences since 1989. He became a senior professor in 2008 and the Head of the Department of Anaesthesia in 2021.
He was a member of the team that started cardiac surgery at the PGIMS and performed the first heart surgery in Haryana. He has 118 national and international publications to his credit and is a recipient of several awards.
