Double delight for LBA players
Players of the Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) stamped their superiority as they wrapped up titles in the boys and girls sections in the Sub-Junior Punjab State Basketball Championship which concluded at Guru Nanak Stadium here on Monday.
On the third and final day of the championship, in round robin league matches, LBA girls proved too good for Ludhiana district players whom they outplayed 42-32 and then defeated Mohali district 30-11 to clinch the title.
In the boys’ section, LBA trainees outpaced Ludhiana district 41-31 and outclassed Jalandhar district 40-28 to lay their hands on winners’ trophy.
Mohali and Ludhiana districts secured the second and third place, respectively in the girls’ section while in the boys’ group, Mohali and Jalandhar district finished as the first and second runners-up, respectively.
MLA Gurpreet Singh Gogi was gave away the prizes. Former hockey Olympian Hardeep Singh Grewal and international hockey player Jagdeep Singh Gill were the guests of honour on this occasion.
Teja Singh Dhaliwal congratulated the position holders and thanked the participants on the successful conclusion of the championship. JP Singh, president, District Basketball Association, Ludhiana, besides Prof Prabhjot Kaur, coaches and officials were also present there.
