Doctor booked in assault on IVF counsellor
The police have registered a case on the charges of assaulting and threatening to kill a woman employed as IVF counsellor in the hospital.
In a statement given to the police, 52-year-old Kamaljit Kaur of New Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, Gill, Dugri police station, Ludhiana district, said she was working as an IVF counsellor in Ramanpreet Hospital, Chandigarh Road, Garhshankar.
She said on November 21, around 11:30 am, she was sitting in the medical store of the hospital with Darbara Singh, father of Ramanpreet Kaur, owner of Ramanpreet Hospital, when Dr Jaswant Singh came there and started abusing her and started beating her by pulling her hair and pushed her down. The victim said on hearing her screams, Dr Ramanpreet Kaur and other staff saved her from the clutches of the doctor, then Dr Jaswant Singh left the place threatening to shoot her. While leaving, he threatened her that he would bring a pistol and shoot her.
After this, Kamaljit Kaur lodged a complaint on helpline number 112 and the police reached the spot. Kamaljit Kaur informed her husband Bhupinder Singh, then he reached with Sarpanch Nirmal Singh and others. After this, with their help, she got her medical examination done at the Civil Hospital, Garhshankar.
On the statement of Kamaljit Kaur, the Garhshankar Police Station has registered a case against Dr Jaswant Singh under 74,79,115(2),351(2) BNS Act.
