District badminton championship from Aug 8-11

The District Badminton Championship will be organised by the District Badminton Association from August 8 to 11 at Raizada Hansraj Stadium.

DBA president and DC Himanshu Aggarwal released the official poster of the championship. DBA secretary and former national player Ritin Khanna said during the championship, singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches would be held in boys, girls, men and women in U-11, 13, 15, 17, 19 and open categories. In the Veteran category, there will be events for the age group of 35 plus to 65 plus. The fee for each player has been fixed at Rs 850 per event and players can register their names till August 4. Over 500 players are expected to participate in the tournament for 35 events.

Khanna said the winners of the tournament would represent Jalandhar in the Punjab Badminton Championships. He said all players were required to bring their birth certificates. To prevent age-related fraud, the DBA has implemented the aadhaar history verification system for the first time. He said the participants could register themselves by coming to Raizada Hansraj Badminton Stadium with two passport size photographs.
