A workshop on ‘Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation’ was organised at Government Post Graduate College, Chamba, on Monday. Various NSS volunteers and NCC cadets took part in the workshop organised under the aegis of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Chamba, following the directives of the state government.

NSS Programme Officer and workshop coordinator Prof Avinash Pal said the participants were informed about steps to mitigate the damage caused by natural disasters.

College Principal Prof Rakesh Rathore, who was the chief guest, discussed various types of disasters — both natural and man-made — and the precautions that can be taken to reduce their impact. He emphasised that while it might not be possible to prevent disasters, preparations and proper management could help mitigate their effects and minimise the loss of life and property.
