Amritsar, July 9

The owner of Grand Hotel, Sanjay Kumar, has alleged that construction work on an upcoming hotel, Richie Hotel, is still going on though the administration has restricted its owner from doing so at the site.

In a notice issued by the MC to Vijay Sharma, Director of upcoming Richie Hotel, the Deputy Commissioner’s office wrote that they found in the inquiry that Richie Hotel did not comply with the Municipal Building bylaws 2018 amended in 2020 and the conditions imposed in the approved lay-out plan (dated June 4, 2019) by not leaving the required setbacks.

While exercising the powers of the Commissioner, the Municipal Corporation Amritsar, under Section 270 of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976, Vijay Sharma was directed to stop the construction work at the site.

Sanjay Kumar, owner of Grand Hotel, said, “Even as the DC asked the Richie Hotel owner to stop construction work, it is still going on and he has digital proofs, photographs and videos in his possession.”
