DIG asks police officers to remain on high alert
In view of intelligence inputs that terrorists might launch attacks in Jammu division after multiple attacks in Kashmir, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Shiv Kumar conducted a security review in Samba and Kathua districts.
“In view of present security scenario in the Union Territory, DIG, Jammu-Kathua-Samba Range, Shiv Kumar conducted security review of Samba and Kathua districts,” an official said.
During the visit, the DIG met with Special Operations Group (SOG) members and checked their preparedness for anti-terrorist operations. In Samba district, the DIG visited AIIMS, Vijaypur, along with SSP Vinay Kumar and other senior police officials.
He also visited BSF posts in border areas, including Paharpur in Kathua along with SSP Shobit Saxena, ASP Rahul Charak and other officials. The DIG also conducted a meeting with security forces officials in areas close to Punjab border in Kathua. Checking at various interstate police posts was also reviewed.
“The DIG conveyed the instructions of DGP Nalin Parbhat to the officials that all security arrangements should be on high alert and all police personnel should be ready to conduct operation against terrorists. Regular searches should be conducted in forests where presence of terrorists has been sighted, along with Army and CRPF,” the official said.
The DIG also instructed all SSPs, ASPs, SDPOs, and SHOs to conduct checking of busy markets in view of forthcoming festivals.
