Is it 'functioning alcoholic' tiredness? Kamala Harris' post-election video message sparks controversy
A new controversy has erupted over Kamala Harris' first video message after her recent lost in the US presidential race to Donald Trump.
The subdued emotional and sad-sounding Kamala told her supporters to safeguard their power. The video lacked a professional touch and showed her wearing a brown jacket, seated with a partial view of the US flag in the background with many calling her “functioning alcoholic”.
She appeared tired and, at times, on the verge of tears as she spoke, making hand gestures for emphasis.

“I know this is an uncertain time. I’m clear-eyed about that. I know you’re clear-eyed about it, and it feels heavy," Kamala said in her first speech after her Howard University concession speech.
"I just have to remind you, don’t you ever let anybody take your power from you. You have the same power that you did before November 5th, and you have the same purpose that you did, and you have the same ability to engage and inspire," adding that, "In a bid to reach out to Democrat supporters who find themselves distraught due to her defeat. Because of your efforts, we raised an historic 1.4 billion dollars from grassroots supporters alone. I just have to remind you, don't you ever let anybody take your power from you."
"You have the same power that you did before November 5, and you have the same purpose that you did, and you have the same ability to engage and inspire," said Harris, adding, "So don't ever let anybody or any circumstance take your power from you."
“No video like this would ever have been released by a politician who is not hated by her staff," Dan McLaughlin, a writer for National Review, commented.
“Kamala Harris appears to be a functioning alcoholic who almost became President of America. Meanwhile America is about to give another $24,000,000,000 to a barely functioning Cocaine Addict who’s in charge of Ukraine. Absolute clown world," wrote a user.
Harris went on vacation to Hawaii after her defeat, avoided public appearances after the November 6 speech, accepted her defeat, and returned to her home base, San Francisco, on Monday.
The Democratic Party, which released the 29-second video message on Tuesday on X and TikTok, did not say when or where it was recorded.
