Dhuri DSP Talwinder Singh Gill said that the protesters had been alleging involvement of some other persons in this murder case, so the police had been investigating the case in depth. Accordingly, further proceedings would be initiated, he added.

In connection with Gurjant Singh’s murder, a case was registered against unknown persons under Sections 302 and 34 of the IPC on June 27 at the Sadar police station, Dhuri. However, on July 1, Sangrur SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal told mediapersons that the police had arrested Gurwinder Singh and Harwinderpal Singh, residents of Sherpur Sodhian village, in Gurjant Singh’s murder case and had also recovered an axe and a scooter used in the crime.
