Dhanteras today, tricity dealers brace for record deliveries of cars, 2-wheelers
Banking on robust booking and positive sentiments, automobile dealers in the tricity are expected to deliver more than 1,100 passenger vehicles, including cars and sports utility vehicles, and over 2,500 two-wheelers on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras tomorrow. Compared to the same occasion last year, the anticipated growth would be around 10 per cent.
Dhanteras is one of the most auspicious occasions to make a new purchase. It’s the day that usually sees car sales soaring higher compared to any other day of the year. On an average, the tricity dealers sell 3,200 passenger vehicles and around 3,500 two-wheelers in a month.
Average sales per month On an average, the tricity dealers sell 3,200 passenger vehicles and 3,500 two-wheelers in a month.
In an interaction with The Tribune, dealers shared that they are sitting on a record number of bookings and most customers are insisting on deliveries on Dhanteras.
“We had discussions with the respective dealers in the tricity and as per the inputs shared by them, the tentative delivery would be more than 1,100 vehicles with SUVs having a lion’s share, followed by compact cars and sedans,” said Sameer Thakur, CEO, Berkley Tata.
According to dealers, all the major manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota and Kia have impressive bookings.
Many passenger vehicle dealers have requested their customers to take the delivery either on Monday or Wednesday to avoid last-minute glitches on Tuesday.
Like four-wheelers, two-wheeler dealers are upbeat on demand and are anticipating a double-digit growth. “The two-wheelers dealers are bullish on the sentiments and we expect that the sales will cross 2,500 units, including electric units, on Dhanteras. These will not be restricted to one particular brand,” said Balvinder Singh Oberoi, managing director, Manmohan Auto Stores.
The number of deliveries would surpass last year’s figure, said another dealer. According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), the auto industry saw a 25 per cent increase in the sales during the festive period past year. This year, the trend continues with early indicators showing a strong rise in bookings and showroom footfall across the country. Contributing factors include a pent-up demand, festive discounts, favourable financing options and the launch of new models.
