DGP makes surprise visit to women police stations
Special DGP, Community Affairs Division (CAD) & Women Affairs, Punjab, Gurpreet Deo, visited Jalandhar to conduct a surprise inspection of the women police stations under the Commissionerate Police as well as the Rural Police.
During her visit, she reviewed the station’s functioning, checked records and registers and assessed the cleanliness of the police stations and its surroundings. She issued clear directives for addressing public grievances effectively, maintaining proper documentation and ensuring that the station premises remained clean and green.
On the premises of a women police station, she expressed dissatisfaction with an old building and the available infrastructure after which she was shown the new site where the women police station, traffic police staff and cyber police teams are to be shifted. She specifically enquired about cars given to the women police teams. After she was told that the car was used by the SHO of the Women Police Station Arshdeep Kaur in the Commissionerate Police, Deo issued direction to her to use her own official car and deploy this for the women safety team under the Mahila Mitra scheme.
The Special DGP also directed the teams to ensure that all complaints received at the women help desk are resolved in 15 days as per the direction of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. She specifically checked the complaint registers and their record keeping.
Deo spent a good time with the women cops asking them about their specific problems. She also met some cops who have attained fame in sports, including Olympian athlete and SP, Jalandhar Rural Police, Manjit Kaur.
She posted a picture with her on her social media accounts mentioning that her 51.05 seconds record in the 400 m race at the Asian Games where she had won gold remains unbeaten to this day.
While she was received by Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma in the city police area, SSP, Jalandhar Rural, Harkamal Preet S Khakh was there to greet her with the rural team.
