Dera Bassi MLA catches cop taking liquor in office

Mubarikpur police post in-charge Gulshan Kumar was suspended after he was found consuming alcohol along with a visitor in his office on Friday night.

High drama was witnessed at the police post when in-charge Gulshan Kumar was allegedly “caught red-handed” consuming liquor in his office along with a visitor by Dera Bassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa around 10 pm. A half-empty liquor bottle, soda, water bottles and snacks were on the office table when the MLA visited the post.

The MLA took Gulshan to the Dera Bassi Civil Hospital where his blood and urine samples were taken to confirm the presence of alcohol in blood. Doctors confirmed that the samples had been sent to the Kharar laboratory.

The MLA called up Dera Bassi DSP Gurbakshish Singh who, on the directions of Mohali SSP Vivek S Soni, suspended Gulshan.

Meanwhile, the police post in-charge said he was on duty when his friend came with a bottle of liquor inside the post. They were about to consume the liquor when the MLA arrived there. —
