Days after the Batala police absolved a DSP-rank officer of any wrongdoing or misconduct of duty, the Election Commission of India has transferred him to the 13th Battalion, PAP, Chandigarh.

Dera Baba Nanak DSP Jasbir Singh was shifted after Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa had filed a complaint on November 8 against him claiming “he was hand in glove with gangsters”.

Randhawa’s wife Jatinder Kaur is the Congress candidate from the Dera Baba Nanak seat. “Justice has been served. However, I fail to understand under what circumstances and how the Batala police acquitted him in their in-house inquiry. Everybody knows he is linked to anti-national elements. Everybody could see it, only the Batala cops couldn’t,” said Sukhjinder Randhawa.

SSP Suhail Qasim Mir had asked an SP-rank officer to probe the allegations levelled by the MP against the officer. The SP, in turn, had absolved the DSP.

Sukhjinder Randhawa had handed over the complaint to the SHO of Kotli Surat Malhi police station.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India approved the name of Joga Singh, currently posted as DSP (Headquarters) in Kapurthala, as the new DSP of Dera Baba Nanak.
