The estate wing of the Amritsar Municipal Corporation demolished permanent encroachments in Sultanwind area. In a joint operation with the Traffic Police, the MC officials and workers removed illegal encroachments from Putlighar and railway station areas here on Friday evening.

On the directions of MC Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh, the MC estate wing demolished an illegally constructed permanent shop on Sultanwind Road. Estate Officer Dharminderjeet Singh said a kiosk previously existed near the open drain (nullah) in Kittiya area of the South Assembly constituency. The drain was closed and a concrete road was constructed.

A permanent shop was built on the site of the kiosk, causing significant traffic disruptions due to its location in the middle of the road.

The public was appealed to cooperate with the traffic police, refrain from wandering around in their vehicles on roads, and park their vehicles only in parking spaces while following traffic rules.

The public was also urged to inform the police immediately if they notice any suspicious person or object. Police officials stated that similar campaigns in different markets would be conducted in the future.
