Members of the Computer Teachers’ Union, Punjab, organised a rally at the local Sri Guru Arjun Dev Sports stadium here on Thursday. They condemned the state government for its alleged total failure to fulfil any of the demands of computer teachers working in the government schools of the state.

Joni Singla, state leader of the union, presided over the rally in which computer teachers from schools of the district participated. They announced that they would participate in a big number in the ongoing chain hunger strike, which has been going on for the last 103 days under ‘Save Your Rights Rally’ in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Sangrur, on December 14.

Union state president Sital Singh, Nardeep Singh, Harjinder Kaur, Sandeep Kaur and Jaspal Singh were among others who addressed on the occasion. The leaders condemned the state government for not resolving any of their grievances. The leaders said except for fake promises, the state government has done nothing for them during its three-year rule.

They said besides other issues, they have been stressing for the regularisation of their services by merging them in the Education Department without any delay. They warned that in case their demands were not met, they would have no option but to intensify their agitation. The participants raised slogans against the state government.
