What happened to Lokpal Bill, Cong asks AAP

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Devender Yadav launched a scathing attack on former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of failing to deliver on his long-standing promise of implementing the Jan Lokpal Bill, which he had championed 12 years ago. Yadav, speaking during the 24th day of the Delhi Nyay Yatra in Vikaspuri Assembly segment on Sunday, criticised Kejriwal for betraying the people and perpetuating corruption within his own government.

“Kejriwal came to power on the promise of eradicating corruption and implementing the Lokpal, but now he’s caught in a corruption quagmire himself,” said Yadav. “With 18 AAP MLAs and ministers involved in criminal cases and corruption scandals, where is the Lokpal that Kejriwal promised to establish? People ask him wherever he goes.”

Yadav pointed out that Kejriwal had even resigned as Chief Minister in the past due to his failure to implement the Lokpal Bill. He accused the AAP government of misgovernance, claiming that it had left Delhi bankrupt while the Congress-led government had once maintained a surplus budget for development and welfare.

Yadav also highlighted the criminal cases against AAP leaders, including MLA Naresh Yadav, sentenced to two years in jail by a Punjab court, and MLA Naresh Baliyan, arrested by Delhi Police for extortion. “It’s no surprise that Kejriwal can no longer face the people. Wherever he goes, they vent their frustration at him for betraying their trust,” he added.

Reflecting on the good response to the Delhi nyay yatra, Yadav said people were now looking to the Congress Party to deliver change.
