Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta on Thursday told the Delhi High Court that the prohibitory order of the Delhi Police Commissioner under Section 163 of BNSS (prohibition of assembly of five or more persons) on September 30 was meant to be in force till October 5. Division bench of Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela were hearing the petition against the detention of climate activist and in order to enter Delhi, a second petition was filed challenging the order. Sonam Wangchuk was detained by the Delhi Police on September 30. Mehta also said that Wangchuk and the volunteers had been set free. Wangchuk and the volunteers who had travelled to Delhi on foot from Leh on September were released on October 2 and were escorted to the Rajghat. The petitioner Mustafa Haji confirmed that Wangchuk and the volunteers had been set free and their movements were not restricted any more. The Delhi HC dismissed both the petitions after receiving the copy of the withdrawn order.
