New Delhi, December 15
In a show of solidarity, the Valmiki Samaj and several other communities have pledged their support for the Mahapanchayat scheduled to take place on December 22 in Mangolpur Kalan, Delhi, said Chaudhary Surender Solanki, head of Palam 360, a group demanding development of rural areas in Delhi.
Solanki raised several issues faced by rural Delhi, including the need to extend the Red Line in rural areas, increase the circle rates for village land, facilitate free registration of ancestral lands for heirs, expedite the allotment of alternative plots for acquired land, and ensure the inclusion of village names in metro station names.
“This is the final chance to resolve the issues of rural Delhi before December 22. If not, the people of Delhi’s villages will not back out. This fight will not remain incomplete this time,” he said.
The announcement came during a series of meetings organised under the Delhi Rural Connect Yatra, led by Pradhan Chaudhary Surendra Solanki of Palam 360.
The yatra covered about 15 villages, including Pitampura, Mangolpur Khurd, Mangolpur Kalan, Naharpur, Rithala, Poonthkalan and Kirari.
Addressing a gathering during the Panchayat in Mangolpur, Chaudhary Surendra Solanki said, “The government should listen to the voices of rural Delhi. The unity of 36 communities and 360 villages is unprecedented, and the Mahapanchayat on Dec 22 will witness historic decisions,” he stated.
The Valmiki Samaj, along with other castes from Mangolpur Khurd and Mangolpur Kalan, extended their unwavering support to the campaign. “We will openly support and cooperate with Chaudhary Solanki in this movement,” said a community representative.
Solanki reiterated that the movement was a fight against oppression and injustice, warning that if the government continued to ignore the demands of rural Delhi, decisive actions would be taken at the mahapanchayat. “If the government fails to act, the mahapanchayat will take the strictest decisions in the interest of rural Delhi,” he said.
