The decomposed body of a Civil Services aspirant, Deepak Kumar Meena, was found hanging from a tree in a forested area of Mukherjee Nagar, North West Delhi on September 20, the police said on Monday.

Meena, who hailed from Dausa, Rajasthan, had been missing for 10 days. He had come to Delhi in July to prepare for the UPSC Mains exam, having cleared the prelims.

Meena last contacted his family on September 10, the police said. “Concerned after not hearing from him for three days, his father, CL Meena, travelled to Delhi, where Meena’s roommates confirmed he had been missing,” an officer said.

A report was filed and during the search, his body was found near the coaching institute where he attended classes.

Though no suicide note was recovered, a senior police official said CCTV footage suggested suicide. The investigation is ongoing and Meena’s body was handed over to his family following a post-mortem examination.
