As the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections approach, both the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) have ramped up their campaigns, actively engaging with students across hostels and accommodations to gain support for the upcoming polls.

The ABVP candidates, led by presidential nominee Rishabh Chaudhary, vice-presidential candidate Bhanu Pratap Singh, secretary candidate Mitravinda Karnwal and joint secretary candidate Aman Kapasia, conducted extensive outreach activities at prominent university hostels. These included visits to Rajiv Gandhi Women’s Hostel, Gwyer Hall, Mansarovar Hostel, PG Men’s Hostel, Meghdoot and others. During these interactions, the ABVP panel addressed key concerns raised by the students, including demands for improved campus infrastructure, enhanced hostel facilities and a more transparent examination process.

The team also focused on issues such as skill-oriented courses, better grievance redressal systems and increased scholarships for marginalised students, particularly those from SC, ST, and OBC backgrounds. Women’s safety and hostel allocation for postgraduate students were highlighted as critical concerns. Promising to address these issues, ABVP candidates laid out a detailed roadmap for future initiatives aimed at enhancing campus life and securing employment opportunities for students.

The panel further emphasised their past achievements, including the introduction of U-Special buses and approvals for new women’s hostels. They reassured students that they would continue working towards creating a safe and supportive academic environment if elected in the DUSU elections.

Simultaneously, the NSUI, under the leadership of national president Varun Choudhary, also intensified its campaign, holding a special interaction with Telugu students. The event, attended by Congress Working Committee Permanent Invitee Gidugu Rudraraju, saw enthusiastic participation from students.

Our manifesto reflects the real needs of students, and we will ensure every promise is fulfilled.” He emphasised NSUI’s commitment to protecting the campus from divisive forces and fostering unity and progress.

Rudraraju praised NSUI’s efforts in uniting the student body and addressing their concerns, stressing the need to uphold democratic values on campus and ensure that student voices are heard and respected. The event provided Telugu students with a platform to share their concerns.

NSUI candidates also campaigned across various PGs and hostels, reiterating their focus on creating a safe, inclusive and progressive environment. Both ABVP and NSUI remain committed to addressing concerns and driving positive change as they vie for leadership in the DUSU poll.
