Servant kills dhaba owner, his son in Delhi; nabbed in Punjab
New Delhi, October 23
The police have arrested a man from Punjab’s Ferozepur district for allegedly killing a dhaba owner and his eight-year-old son in Nabi Karim, Delhi.
The suspect has been identified as Sonu Kumar (22) and was hired by the owner of the dhaba recently.
Anuj (32) used to run a dhaba in Arakashan Road, Paharganj, along with his wife Reema Devi (33) on the ground floor and resided on the first floor of the restaurant. “On October 21, the police received a PCR call at 2:45 pm regarding the murder of Anuj and his son Raunak,” said DCP (Central District) Sanjay Sain.
Anuj’s wife, along with her mother-in-law and daughter, had gone to Dwarka the previous night. Upon their return, they found the dhaba locked from the inside and the deceased’s phone was also switched off. Reema manged to enter the house and found the father-son duo lying in a pool of blood, DCP Sain added.
During the investigation, the police found out that Sonu was absconding after the incident. The deceased’s mobile phone and the CCTV camera installed inside the restaurant were also missing.
On the further investigation, it was learnt that Sonu had given incomplete address to his previous employer but provided a mobile number of his relative in Punjab, the police said.
Sonu disclosed that he wanted to seek revenge as Anuj had beaten him twice on the suspicion of stealing money from his purse.
“The suspect hit Anuj with a stick on his head twice and then slashed his throat. In the meantime, his son started crying loudly and caught Sonu’s hair,” the police said.
Panicked, Sonu slashed the throat of the eight-year-old and threw the body behind the space between wall and bed.
