Rs 1,000 monthly assistance scheme for women: Kejriwal
AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that the AAP government was set to launch its Rs 1,000 monthly assistance scheme for women across Delhi very soon.
‘Similar schemes in BJP-ruled states’
- Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Vijender Gupta, pointed out that women in BJP-ruled states had been receiving similar financial aid for years.
- He cited examples of Madhya Pradesh’s “Mukhyamantri Ladli Bahna Yojana,” which provides Rs 1,250 monthly, and Chhattisgarh’s “Mahitari Vandan Yojana,” offering Rs 1,000 per month. He also mentioned Maharashtra’s “Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahna Yojana”, which gives women Rs 1,500 every month, along with Odisha and Haryana’s upcoming financial assistance plans.
Kejriwal made the announcement during his padyatra in Model Town and Timarpur. He also challenged the BJP to account for its contribution to the city over the last decade. He said, had it been willing, the BJP’s Central government could have transformed Delhi into a “paradise”. Instead, he said, they focused on halting key infrastructure and welfare projects, which have now resumed at full speed following his return.
“The BJP opposes even this initiative. They criticise free electricity, water, education and healthcare, claiming I am wasting money. But I am spending it on the people, not stealing it,” AAP National Convener said.
The AAP-led Delhi Government had announced the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana to give Rs 1000 direct assistance to women above the age of 18 in the national capital during the budget session earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the assistance has been on hold for several months, and Kejriwal was arrested by investigative agencies in an alleged corruption and money laundering case in the alleged Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 scam.
The former Delhi Chief Minister was granted bail on September 13 by the Supreme Court.
Addressing the gathering, he said, Rajpura village faced serious water issues. But now, water has finally started coming, highlighting that such basic necessities had gone unaddressed for too long and were initiated by the AAP Government.
