The united front of workers’ and employees’ unions of the Haryana Roadways Department has submitted a charter of demands to the Transport Department authorities, warning of a potential protest if their concerns are not addressed within a week.

Naresh Kumar, spokesperson for the Haryana Roadways Sanjha (Joint) Workers’ Union, highlighted key grievances, including the regularisation of jobs for hundreds of contractual and temporary employees and overdue promotions for eligible staff. The union, representing three associations of workers, also raised issues such as delays in releasing overtime allowance and traveling allowance, and irregularities in granting scheduled leave to drivers and conductors.

Additionally, the union called for the adoption of digital payment systems for fare collection, citing inefficiencies in the current setup.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of progress on these issues, the union announced plans to stage a sit-in protest at the depot from November 30 if their demands are not met.

The memorandum was handed to the workshop manager in the absence of the department’s General Manager.
