Rajsharan Shahi elected ABVP national president, Virender Singh Solanki national general secretary
The ABVP concluded its elections for the key posts of national president and national general secretary on Thursday. As per the election results, Prof Rajsharan Shahi was re-elected the national president, while Virendra Singh Solanki was elected the national general secretary for the term 2024-2025.
The results were announced from the central office of ABVP in Mumbai by Prof Prashant Sathe, Election Officer, and special invitee member of the National Executive Committee. The newly elected office-bearers will assume their roles at the upcoming 70th ABVP National Conference, scheduled for November 22-24 in Gorakhpur, UP.
Rajsharan, a prominent educationist and long-time ABVP leader, will continue his leadership as the national president. Hailing from Gorakhpur, UP, he has dedicated much of his career to education. He holds a PhD in education and is currently the professor and head of the department of education at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow. Additionally, he serves as the dean of the school of education at the same institution.
His academic contributions are substantial, with over 112 research papers and articles published in national and international journals.
A lifelong ABVP member since his student days in 1989, Rajsharan has served in various leadership roles, including as the national vice-president and the President of the Gorakhpur Mahanagar and Goraksh state units.
Virendra Singh Solanki, a rising star in both the medical field and the ABVP, has been elected as the national general secretary. Originally from Udaynagar in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, he is an MBBS graduate from the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences, Indore. Currently, he is serving as a part-time Allopathic Medical Officer at the Government Autonomous Ashtanga Ayurved College and Hospital in Indore.
Ever since he joined the ABVP in 2014, he emerged as a key leader within the organisation, particularly for medical and dental students. Through the ‘MeDeVision’ initiative, he has played a pivotal role in addressing the concerns of medical students nationwide.
