Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta has formally requested an investigation by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) into alleged illegal construction at the former residence of AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal at 6, Flagstaff Road. In his letter to the CVC, Gupta claimed that Kejriwal violated building regulations by constructing an extensive ‘Sheesh Mahal’. “Former CM Kejriwal has completely disregarded approved limits for ground coverage and floor area ratio (FAR), constructing without the necessary layout plan approvals,” Gupta stated. He made these remarks after inspecting the area, noting that Bungalow No. 45, adjacent to Kejriwal’s residence, remains incomplete. This bungalow was allegedly merged into 6, Flagstaff Road.

He highlighted the impact of the construction on nearby government properties, including the demolition of eight Type-V flats on Rajpur Road. “To increase the area Kejriwal’s residence, these properties were sacrificed. This is a clear example of how the so-called ‘common man’ has transformed into a ‘special man’,” Gupta criticised. He said although several trees were cut down, the mandated 19,700 replacement trees were never planted.
