Nurse killed, dentist hurt as car, SUV collide
A 47-year-old nurse died and a dentist was injured after the car they were travelling in collided head-on with an SUV in the Begampur area of Delhi’s Rohini, the police said on Tuesday.
The deceased had been identified as Jyoti, a staff nurse at Lady Hardinge Medical College and Hospital and a resident of Bawana. The injured person has been identified as Vijayant (47), a dentist at a private hospital and also a resident of Bawana. The accident took place around 11 am on Monday, they said.
The police said they found two damaged cars on the spot. The SUV driver fled the spot after the mishap. The injured persons were rushed to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital where Jyoti was declared dead on arrival, a police officer said.
Vijayant, who was driving the car, is undergoing treatment, the officer said.
A case had been registered at the Begampur Police Station. CCTV footages were being checked to know the sequence of events and efforts were on to nab the accused, he said.
