In what has set the ball rolling for the Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region (DNGIR), or Noida 2.0 as it is popularly known, the project has received a budget approval of around Rs 1,000 crore. This milestone sets the stage for land acquisition and infrastructure development in a 203 sq km area near Noida and Greater Noida.
The project aims to create a modern urban area modelled after advanced foreign cities. The DNGIR, conceived as an extension of the National Capital Region (NCR) city, Noida, is a strategic response to the diminishing availability of space for accommodating industries. The master plan for 2041 envisions a transformative approach with the primary focus on integrating abadi plots (residential areas) with the imminent development.
As per the estimates provided in the master plan, the population of Noida 2.0 is anticipated to surge from 1.5 lakh in 2011 to a substantial 6.3 lakh by 2041. Remarkably, the plan proposes that at least 40 per cent of this augmented population will find gainful employment in the industrial and service sectors.
This is a part of the Master Plan 2041 and will make this city, located next to Noida and Greater Noida (upcoming Modi town), a key urban development with an initial phase encompassing approximately 203 sq km.
The funds will be used for land acquisition under a land pooling scheme, converting 14,000 hectares of farmland from 84 villages in Gautam Buddh Nagar and Bulandshahr into an active megacity. New Noida will be located next to Dadri and Sikandrabad and will feature three zones — North Zone, Central Zone and South Zone. These zones will ensure balanced development and connectivity with Noida, Greater Noida, Delhi, Ghaziabad and the Noida International Airport, enhancing the city’s accessibility and infrastructure.
Dr Lokesh M, CEO of Noida Authority, emphasised that a detailed plan for land acquisition is in place, aligning with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision.
The Noida Authority will oversee administrative activities, ensuring efficient development and maintenance.
The Noida project will address the limitations of current urban areas by providing advanced facilities and infrastructure. A special economic zone connecting Dadri, Noida and Ghaziabad is also planned to boost industrial growth and economic activity.
With the initial budget approved, New Noida is set to become a landmark urban development, reflecting modern planning and strategic foresight. The Noida project promises to enhance regional infrastructure, economic growth and urban living standards, drawing inspiration from successful international models.
