Muslim delegation calls on L-G
A delegation of prominent Ulemas and Muslim residents from Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin and Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin met Delhi L-G VK Saxena on Saturday to express their concern over increasing attacks on Hindu and other minority communities in Bangladesh.
The delegation voiced its distress over the worsening situation for minorities in the neighboring country, particularly Hindus, who have faced increasing violence and persecution.
During the meeting, the Ulemas called for stronger diplomatic efforts to ensure the protection of Hindus and other minority communities across the border.
The delegation also raised concerns over the increasing number of illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators residing in India, particularly in Delhi, and called for immediate steps to address this issue. They said illegal Bangladeshi migrants should not be given houses on rent and those who have already rented their houses should evict them.
The delegation also proposed a public awareness campaign, urging Delhi residents to report any instances of illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators in their neighbourhoods, thereby facilitating police action.
The delegation members called on the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Delhi Police to take swift action to remove infiltrators from public places. They also called for a special drive to identify and deport illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators.
