A high-level meeting was convened by Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Wednesday to discuss the sealing of coaching centres in the Mukherjee Nagar area. The meeting brought together key stakeholders — Durgesh Pathak, MLA Dilip Pandey, MLA Jitender Yadav and the Additional Commissioner (Engineering), along with other concerned officers.

Representatives from the coaching centres expressed their concerns regarding the sealing of establishments operating on the ground and first floors. They referred to a court order dated August 16, 2023, which stated that a no objection certificate (NOC) from the Fire Department was not required for coaching centres on these floors, provided the height of the building is below 9 m.

Addressing the issue, Additional Commissioner Jitender Yadav emphasised the need for strict adherence to safety measures.

The Mayor said a joint task force, constituted under the court’s directions, will soon present its report.
