Mayor provides job, fiscal aid to kin of deceased sanitation worker
Mayor Shelly Oberoi handed over an appointment letter for a compassionate job to the son of late Swachhata Sainik Surendra, who passed away in an accident while on duty in Najafgarh earlier this year. The Mayor also presented a letter sanctioning terminal benefits of Rs 30.7 lakh to the family of the deceased.
Oberoi visited the residence of the deceased sanitation worker along with Matiala Assembly MLA Gulab Singh Yadav, Najafgarh Zone Deputy Commissioner Omkar Rajendra Gundage and senior officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) in Najafgarh on Wednesday.
“Today, we are here to stand with the family of late Swachhata Sainik Surendra. His son, Saurabh, has been appointed as a permanent sanitation worker in the corporation,” said Oberoi.
Surendra lost his life in an accident near Sai Baba Temple in Najafgarh in September this year while performing his duties.
Oberoi emphasised the commitment of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and the MCD towards the welfare of its employees.
“This is the fifth instance since the Aam Aadmi Party came to power in the MCD where a dependent of a deceased employee has been provided a job on compassionate grounds. I want to assure all corporation employees that the AAP government and the MCD administration will always support them in times of difficulty,” she said.
Highlighting the significance of sanitation workers, the Mayor described them as the “pillars of the MCD who keep the corporation running”. She added, “In any hour of grief or crisis, our Aam Aadmi Party stands firmly with them.”
Oberoi also reaffirmed the AAP government’s dedication to improving civic amenities across Delhi. “Under the leadership of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, all our public representatives are committed to serving the citizens of Delhi. The MCD will continue working tirelessly to provide better facilities to the people,” she assured.
