New Delhi, August 12

In a surprising twist to a series of snatching and theft cases in Dwarka, a 34-year-old man has been arrested, with police revealing that his motive was far from ordinary. Om Parkash, a resident of Mohan Garden in Delhi, was arrested on Monday for his involvement in multiple crimes, which he reportedly committed to fund a vacation with his girlfriend.

Parkash’s girlfriend, whom he met just three months ago, motivated him to commit these thefts. The couple, both battling drug addiction, had ambitious plans to use the stolen funds to finance a getaway and a leisurely road trip.

According to police officials, Parkash’s girlfriend has a history of similar criminal activities.

The police said, “Parkash’s girlfriend allegedly encouraged him to engage in snatching and thefts to earn quick money for their trips.”

The police also noted that Parkash, previously employed as a taxi driver, lost his job due to drug addiction, which further pushed him into criminal activities.

The first incident leading to his arrest occurred on August 4, when a man reported that his mobile phone was snatched by an unidentified biker near IES Apartment in Sector 4, Dwarka. Another incident was reported on August 7, when a woman stated that her iPhone was snatched by a motorcyclist while she was heading to the office near Sector 4 market, Dwarka. Cases were registered in both instances at Dwarka North and Dwarka South Police Stations, respectively.

Parkash was arrested on August 7 while attempting to sell the snatched mobile phones. The police recovered six stolen mobile phones, including an iPhone 13 and several Android models, as well as the stolen motorcycle used in the crimes.

The police revealed that Parkash has a history of criminal activities, with prior involvement in three cases of theft and snatching.
