The court of Additional Sessions Judge Saurabh Gupta on Wednesday sentenced a man to seven years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 60,000 for a fatal attack on a police team in 2022.

According to the police, on October 18, 2022, the Crime Unit team from Sector 17 received information about a man, wanted in a dacoity case, travelling from Bajghera towards Gurugram on a motorcycle. When the police signalled him to stop, he ignored the directive and rammed into a barricade, injuring a policeman.

The suspect then abandoned his bike and fled on foot, firing at the police team during the chase. In response, the police fired a shot that hit him in the leg, leading to his capture. The accused was identified as Mohit, a resident of Jhojhu Kalan village in Charkhi Dadri district. An FIR was registered at the Bajghera police station, and Mohit was placed in judicial custody.
