The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Jyoti Lamba, has sentenced Rahat Khan, a resident of Sanjay Colony, to 20 years in prison for the rape and abduction of a 19-year-old girl. In addition to the prison term, the court has imposed a fine of Rs 1.51 lakh on the convict.

The case unfolded when Khan befriended the victim, who was a Class 12 student. In May 2022, Khan took the victim to Uttarakhand under the pretence of marriage. Reports indicate that while the victim was visiting a relative in Kurukshetra, Khan persuaded her to maintain their friendship by promising marriage.

On May 31, he forced physical relations upon her and subsequently, on June 5, took her to Noida and Uttarakhand without telling anyone.
