L-G concerned over delayed posting of staff in govt hospitals
New Delhi, August 21
Delhi L-G VK Saxena on Wednesday expressed concerns over the delay in filling posts in the medical, paramedical and nursing wings of the Delhi Government Hospitals pending for 10 years, officials said. Saxena was reviewing the status of recruitments and vacant positions in the Health Department, according to sources.
An official from Raj Niwas said, “Saxena was informed that 23 doctors in different categories such as neurosurgery, cardiology, plastic surgery and microbiology, etc in the Group ‘A’ had already been appointed by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and their dossiers were sent to the Health Department since July 2023.”
“However, their postings were yet to take place because the competent authority to post them ie the National Capital Civil Services Authority (NCCSA) was not meeting since the Chief Minister was in judicial custody,” the official added. It was also said several other dossiers were also sent by the UPSC in May this year.
Expressing concern over the delayed posting, Saxena directed the Chief Secretary and the Principal Secretary (Services) to immediately find a way out.
In a detailed presentation, reviewed by the L-G, an official said he was told that the medical branch which had 1,364 sanctioned posts of General Duty Medical Officers had 234 vacant posts and were in the stage of getting filled up.
The UPSC, which is the recruiting agency, informed Saxena that the entire process would be completed by September this year.
Meanwhile, the non-teaching specialities sub-cadre had 279 posts vacant in 21 specialities. The UPSC would be completing the recruitment process of 258 posts among these by December 2024, an official said.
Saxena during the review meeting said he would also write to the Union Health Ministry to expedite
the process.
In the nursing category, the examination for 1,507 nursing officials, 24 nursing officials in the physically handicapped category and 56 auxiliary nurse and midwife workers was scheduled by the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) in August and September.
