New Delhi, July 21

The Delhi Traffic Police on Sunday issued an advisory in anticipation of the Kanwar Yatra, scheduled from July 22 to August 2. A large influx of devotees is expected to transit through the Capital, leading to significant traffic congestion in several areas.

The advisory noted that an estimated 15-20 lakh kanwariyas are expected to arrive in Delhi, making their way to Haryana and Rajasthan. The traffic unit has cautioned that this will likely result in heavy traffic congestion at various points in the city.

“Generally, heavy traffic congestion occurs on Najafgarh Firni, Rohtak Road, Pankha Road, Dev Prakash Shastri Marg, Nangloi-Najafgarh Road, Outer Ring Road, Rani Jhansi Road from Baraf Khana Chowk to Fire Station, Boulevard Road and at Azad Market Chowk, Gokulpuri Flyover, 66 Foota Road, Maujpur Chowk, Badarpur T Point and Mathura Road,” the advisory stated.

Additionally, the advisory highlighted that congestion is expected on NH-08 from Dhaula Kuan Metro Station up to Rajokri Border.

Due to the diversion of vehicular traffic bound for Apsara Border and Maharajpur Border to Ghazipur by UP Police, there will also be congestion on NH-24.

In light of these anticipated disruptions, the advisory urged motorists to plan their journeys to avoid delays.

“The Delhi Traffic Police have made elaborate arrangements to segregate the movement of kanwariyas and other road users and to minimise inconvenience to the general public and devotees,” the advisory noted.

“The devotees and road users are advised to follow the traffic rules and obey the directions of policemen on duty,” it added.
