New Delhi, February 22

The issue of Sikh community facing misplaced ire over social media has left community leaders in the Capital agitated. Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney has written to Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwani Vaishnaw, citing Information Technology (IT) Rules, 2021, to uphold communal harmony.

“Embracing our diverse tapestry, let’s stand united against hate speech targeting any religion by fundamentalists, may that be Sikh, Hindu, Muslim or Christian. Our strength lies in pluralism and secularism binds us together,” Sahney posted on X.

Earlier, DSGMC former president Paramjit Singh Sarna said the incident involving the Sikh IPS officer in West Bengal was the result of the toxic online environment created by the BJP’s IT cell. “The appalling treatment of IPS Jaspreet Singh is a direct result of the toxic cesspool cultivated by this notorious IT cell,” said Sarna. Another DSGMC former chief Manjit Singh GK has written to the Bengal CM, seeking action against the miscreants.
