In Brief: Proclaimed drug trafficker held
The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested a 47-year-old drug trafficker, who had a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head, from Koraput in Odisha, officials said on Sunday. Mohammad Anawar Khan, a proclaimed offender, was nabbed on December 12 with assistance from the local police, DCP(Crime) Sanjay Kumar Sain said. The accused was involved in two major cases registered under the NDPS Act in 2019, where 1,600 kilograms of cannabis was seized and four people were arrested in two different cities. Based on a tip-off about Khan's hideout, a police team apprehended him, the officer said. PTI
Snatcher Held in Aman Vihar
New Delhi: : The Delhi Police has arrested a snatcher after a brief exchange of fire in the Aman Vihar area of Delhi's Rohini, an officer said on Sunday. Police said the arrest followed two snatching incidents in Aman Vihar. The accused has been identified as Raj Kumar, police said. "After arresting one of his accomplices, Rohit, police gathered intelligence about Raj Kumar's involvement and began tracing his hideouts. On Saturday, police received a tip-off about Raj Kumar's presence at the Central Park in Aman Vihar," the officer said. A raiding team was formed and a trap was laid. As Raj Kumar arrived at the spot on a stolen motorcycle, the team attempted to apprehend him. However, the accused opened fire, forcing the officers to act in self-defence, police said. PTI
