In Brief: 500 sniper rifle bullets seized
New Delhi: A routine traffic check in West Delhi’s Moti Nagar area led to the seizure of 500 sniper rifle bullets being transported on a motorcycle. The incident occurred during vehicle inspection by the traffic police on Saturday night when officers signalled a motorcyclist to stop. However, the rider attempted to flee, prompting a chase. “While being chased, the man abandoned the motorcycle near a traffic stop and fled,” the officer added. Upon searching the motorcycle, the police discovered a bag with 10 boxes containing 500 live cartridges of 7.62 calibre. A senior officer said 7.62 cartridges are used in AK-47 rifles, self-loading rifles, light machine guns and sniper rifles.
Tele-medicine services begin
New Delhi: The Health and Family Welfare Department of the Delhi Government has launched tele-medicine services for 13 medical specialties through the e-Sanjeevani portal of the Government of India, an official statement said. In a step towards improving healthcare accessibility, patients can consult doctors and specialists via video calls using smartphones or computers through this platform, according to the statement. Tele-medicine services aim to deliver affordable and accessible healthcare services to patients from the comfort of their homes.
Father killed, girl injured in mishap
New Delhi: A 45-year-old man was killed and his daughter was injured after a truck of Municipal Corporation of Delhi mowed down their motorcycle in southeast Delhi on Monday. The police rushed Kuldeep and his daughter Anshika to the AIIMS trauma centre, where Kuldeep was declared brought dead. The truck driver fled from the spot after the incident and the and police seized both vehicles.
