Illegal parking lot unearthed, operator arrested

A joint team of the CM flying squad and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) unearthed an illegal car parking lot in the green belt of Sector 18 here on Friday.

The parking operator was charging Rs 80 per vehicle.

An FIR was lodged at the Sector 18 police station and the police nabbed the operator of the lot. Rs 2,930 and parking slips were seized from his possession.

According to the complaint filed by Ashish Tyagi, junior engineer (JE) in the enforcement wing of the GMDA, he got information from the CM flying squad that an illegal parking lot was being run in the green belt of Sector 18.

A joint team of the CM flying and GMDA raided the spot and found some cars parked in the Hariom parking lot, where a man was charging parking fee of Rs 80 per car. When asked for the necessary documents to run the parking lot in the green belt, he could not produce any. The accused even gave the printed parking slips to vehicle owners. He confessed to running the lot without any permission,” the JE said in his complaint.

Following the complaint, an FIR was lodged against the operator of the lot under Section 308 (2) of the BNS at the Sector 18 police station.

“The operator of the lot was nabbed from the spot. We are questioning him,” said a senior police officer.
