New Delhi: A 21-year-old MSc student of IIT-Delhi allegedly died by suicide in his hostel room late on Tuesday night. The deceased, Kumar Yash, a second-year MSc student, hanged himself from a ceiling fan in his room at Aravali Hostel. Yash was immediately taken to the IIT hospital by his friend and staff members. However, doctors on duty declared him dead. The police have confirmed that no suicide note was found at the scene. As per his medical report, he was receiving psychiatric care and had visited the IIT hospital earlier that day for treatment. His appointment with a psychiatrist was scheduled for October 29, the police said. Kumar Yash’s family, hailing from Deoghar, Jharkhand, has been informed.

Woman kills lover with stone

New Delhi: A mother of four walked into a police station and confessed that she killed her lover with a stone, a hammer and a knife in her house in Mukundpur area, the police on Wednesday said. The 28-year-old widow said she killed the man because he was a drunk and frequently abused her and her children. The woman was arrested on charge of murder, an officer said, and the victim was identified as Mohammad Tawarak, alias Sahil Khan. She made the confession on Tuesday. pti
