New Delhi, September 2

The BJP on Monday alleged widespread corruption and mismanagement in Delhi Government’s healthcare department. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said healthcare services in the Capital have completely collapsed with hospitals, clinics and ongoing health projects becoming centres of corruption.

Sachdeva said Gupta had already filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Branch regarding alleged scams in the Delhi Government’s health department.

“An FIR is about to be registered, and Kejriwal’s dark truths will be revealed… whether it’s Saurabh Bharadwaj or any other minister of Kejriwal, they are all ministers of press conferences and have nothing to do with administration,” he said.

Sachdeva demanded that Health Minister Bharadwaj and other Delhi Government ministers responsible for delayed health department projects should take responsibility and resign. He said even the upgrade of the existing hospitals has been delayed by years, let alone the construction of new ones. “Mohalla clinics, along with their patient bills, pathology tests and X-rays, have all become subjects of corruption, and an investigation is underway,” he added.

He further accused Bharadwaj and the Chief Minister of being complicit, stating, “Such scams are not possible without the silent consent of the minister and the CM.”

Gupta alleged that of the 24 approved hospital projects, valued at Rs 5,590 crore, many remain incomplete and have experienced significant cost overruns. “A clear example is the case of seven ICU hospitals, with a total of 6,800 beds, approved at a cost of Rs 1,125 crore. Despite being sanctioned three years ago, only 50 per cent of the work has been completed,” Gupta said.

He also criticised the delayed multipurpose clinic project, alleging that only 52 out of the planned 94 clinics have been constructed.
