Gurugram MC issues 44 challans for GRAP-4 violations
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs 3 lakh on 44 individuals/firms for doing activities prohibited under GRAP-4 implemented by the Commission for Air Quality Management.
These include 27 challans for burning coal or wood in tandoor, 14 challans for construction and demolition activities despite the ban, one challan for garbage dumping, two challans for keeping and transporting construction material without covering and 10 challans for doing other activities that increase pollution.
Joint Commissioner, MCG, Pradeep Kumar also visited various areas and inspected the cleanliness system and compliance of GRAP rules. He also instructed the officials concerned to improve the cleanliness system in the area and ensure regular lifting of garbage. Along with this, he said strict monitoring should be done on the activities banned under GRAP-4 and if any person does such activity, then he should be stopped immediately and challan should be issued as per the rules.
According to MCG Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg, the MC is taking various steps to curb pollution. He said the cleaning of roads was being mechanised so that dust does not fly. For this, 16 machines are working on various roads during the night. As per the rules, challans are also being issued to those who violate GRAP rules.
