Gurpurb celebrated with religious fervour in Gurugram
The 555th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev was celebrated with great religious fervour by residents at Gurugram's various gurdwaras on Friday. The city’s gurdwara, including the Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara in DLF (Phase 1), Gurdwara Sadh Sangat in Sector 41, Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Civil Lines, Gurdwara in Sector-39 (Jharsa), Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Sector 46, Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar in Sector-67, Gurdwara Kalgidhar Singh Sabha in Sector 82A, New Colony Gurdwara in Sadar Bazaar, Gurdwara Madanpuri in Sector 7, Gurdwara Sukh Dhaam in Sector 8, Gurdwara Sahib Jacobpura in Sector 12, Gurdwara Sahib Kunj in New Palam Vihar (Sector 110A), and many others, were filled with devotees from the early morning hours.
The celebrations included the 'bhog' ceremonies of 'Akhand Paths' and 'ardaas' (prayers) at all the gurdwara. Devotional singing of 'shabad kirtans' and religious discourses were held to mark the occasion. These discourses focused on Guru Nanak Dev’s teachings of equality, kindness and service to humanity.
Sukhpreet Kaur, a Sikh devotee who visited the gurdwara in Sector 46, said, “We have gathered to celebrate this auspicious occasion together. On this day, we remember our Guru’s teachings and strive to follow his path.”
The gurdwara were beautifully decorated for the occasion, and people exchanged greetings as they came together in celebration.
In addition to Sikh devotees, people from other communities, including members of the majority community, also visited the gurdwara to pay their respects. The gurdwara offered langar (community meal) to all, serving tea, sweets and snacks, which particularly drew people from underprivileged sections of society.
The spirit of unity and service was evident as locals of all backgrounds came together to honour the legacy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji on his 555th birth anniversary.
